First Looks are becoming more and more common for Weddings. And it's no surprise, considering what it entails.
As opposed to seeing each other initially when the Bride starts walking down the isle, a First Look is an opportunity for the Bride and Groom to see each other for the first time without an audience. It's private, intimate, and emotional.
The couple will usually choose a private location near the ceremony where they will meet. Beginning with the Groom waiting for his Bride to sneak up behind him.
This allows for the Photographer to capture their true reactions at seeing each other privately.
Often the couple choses to do their Bride and Groom Portraits right after. Again, this is another personal choice but there are a few benefits to doing this:
Already in a Prime Location.
Privacy allows for truer emotions between the couple.
Bride's makeup and hair is fresh.
Lighting is ideal because it's early in the day (Applies if Wedding ceremony finishes closer to evening, forcing Photographer to use flash).
But remember, each love story is unique! And that includes your Wedding day. So whether you decide to have a First Look or not the choice is yours.
